The Math section of the PSSA has changed to reflect the Common Core Standards.  This includes a shift in rigor.  For students this means working with a deeper command of concepts,  a greater fluency for skills, and the ability to apply skills.

SCSC continues to teach Singapore Math (K-5) and Math in Focus (6-8).  The goal of Singapore Math and Math in Focus is to build a foundation of critical thinking that will position students for success in more advanced concepts by building core knowledge of a concept before moving on to new concepts

If you would like to help support your student at home with additional exposure to content, please review the list below in your child's current grade.  The list includes content standards your child may be exposed to in their math class and provides a link or links for a teaching and learning activity about this topic.  Most activities are short 10 minute videos that include practice problems.

These resources come from 3 websites: - The LearnZillion Math Curriculum is made up of sequential units.

At the core of each unit are several Key Concepts that students should learn and understand about math. Each unit is made up of videos with practice problems embedded.  A lesson plan is provided for the adults which provides a quick summary of what the student will be learning. - Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.  The math mission provided at each grade level is a great way for students to get exposure to key concepts. - OpenEd is the largest K-12 educational resource library.  It provides access to various other sites.  It can be used to search any standard and find applicable resources.
